FREQUENT QUESTIONS

At Cucu we want to answer all your questions and make you come away convinced that we are the best option for you in El Cuyo.

If you have any questions that do not appear below, contact us and we will be happy to answer all your questions.

  • IS CUCU BEACH FRONT?

Cucu Hotel is not beachfront. It is located just 50 meters from the beach.

Right across the street from the hotel, you’ll find our Beach Club and Restaurant, CUCU PLAYA — a true beachfront space that leads you directly to a practically untouched beach.

It takes only two minutes to get from your room at Cucu to the shore.

  • DOES CUCU HAVE A RESTAURANT?

CUCU PLAYA is the new restaurant of Cucu Hotel, located right in front of the hotel.

It currently serves breakfast and lunch in a beachfront setting.

Our rooms also feature fully equipped kitchens, so you can cook your own meals or order from any restaurant in town and enjoy it in your room or in the hotel's common areas.

  • DO YOU ACCEPT CHILDREN?

Yes, Cucu is a family-friendly hotel. Children of all ages are welcome.

Children up to 3 years old stay free of charge. Children between 3 and 12 years old pay an additional fee of 125 MXN plus tax per night.

For accommodation purposes, children aged 13 and older are considered an extra person and are subject to an additional charge of 500 MXN plus tax per night.

We also provide travel cribs upon request if you're visiting with a baby.

  • DO YOU ACCEPT PETS?

No, unfortunately at Cucu we do not accept pets of any type or size. No service/assistance dogs either.

  • WHAT IS THE CLOSEST AIRPORT?

The closest airport to Cucu is the Cancun International Airport, approximately 2 hours and 25 minutes away.

  • HOW DO I GET TO CUCU?

To get to Cucu from the Cancun or Merida airports you can:

    • RENT A CAR at one of the airport car rental agencies. Highly recommended if you are going to stay for many days or if you plan to be moving around a lot and visiting nearby places. Keep in mind that El Cuyo is an isolated place (the closest city is Tizimin 1 hour and 30 minutes away), it does not have a hospital, ATM, or supermarkets, so it is advisable to have a car to be able to get around easily.

    • BUS. Despite being the cheapest means, it is also the most complicated because there is no direct bus to El Cuyo and you have to change transportation on several occasions. It is an experience reserved for the most adventurous. If you arrive at the Cancun airport you must take an ADO to the Cancun Bus Station, from there a bus to Tizimin or Colonia Yucatán and from there another bus to El Cuyo that will leave you in the town square.

  • IS THE ROAD SAFE?

The roads are safe, in the final sections of the road there is only one side in each direction and pass through towns, so we recommend not exceeding the speed limit and driving during the day as much as possible.

  • WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

If you book directly on our website, the deposit payment must be made by credit card (VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX) or PayPal.

If you book through WhatsApp you can pay your deposit with a credit card through a payment link that we generate, by transfer wire or bank deposit or PayPal account.

The amount pending payment will be paid at reception with cash (Mx, USD or Euros) or credit card.

  • DO BUSINESSES IN EL CUYO ACCEPT CARDS OR CASH ONLY?

Some restaurants and activity centers already accept cards, however many others do not, so we recommend withdrawing cash before arriving to El Cuyo.

  • DO YOU HAVE EXTRA BEDS TO ADD TO THE ROOMS?

No, at Cucu we do not have extra beds to add to the rooms. The composition and maximum occupancy cannot be modified.

  • DO YOU HAVE PARKING?

In El Cuyo there are no parking problems, you can park your car on the street in front of the hotel.

  • DO THE ROOMS HAVE SAFE BOX?

Yes, all rooms at Cucu have a Laptop-sized safe box.

  • IS CUCU WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

    Unfortunately we are not.

  • DOES CUCU HAVE DAYPASS?

No, the facilities at Cucu Hotel are exclusively for our guests.

However, Cucu Playa — our beachfront restaurant and beach club — is open to the public, and there is no day pass fee. Please note that food and drinks must be purchased at the restaurant, and outside food or beverages are not allowed.

  • DOES CUCU HAVE BEACH CLUB?

Since January 2025, Cucu Hotel has offered a beachfront space called Cucu Playa, featuring a restaurant, lounge chairs, and a kitesurf school.

Cucu Playa is open daily from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

We welcome everyone — you don’t need to be a hotel guest to visit us and enjoy a day at the beach.
